Privacy Policy
Effective October 20, 2026 · Wavefront for iOS
Wavefront is an AI news reader. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. Wavefront is run by Bradley Flanders ("we", "us").
The short version: you can read Wavefront without an account. Wavefront doesn't currently show ads or use analytics or tracking tools, and we never sell or share your information for advertising. We only store what's needed for the features you choose to turn on.
Information that stays on your phone
To work without an account, Wavefront keeps the following on your device only: the stories you save, the labs and topics you follow, which stories you've opened, your playback speed, when you last left the app (for "Since you left" and "Catch me up"), and a copy of the latest feed so it opens quickly. This information doesn't leave your phone unless you sign in or turn on alerts, as described below. Deleting the app deletes it.
If you create an account (optional)
An account lets your saved stories and follows carry over to a new phone. You sign in with Sign in with Apple: Apple shares your name and an email address with us, and you can choose Apple's "Hide My Email" relay address instead of your real one.
We store your account's email, name (if Apple shared it), sign-in method, and the stories you save and the labs and topics you follow while signed in. We use this only to run your account.
If you turn on alerts (optional)
To send push notifications, we store your phone's push token (an identifier Apple issues for notifications, not your phone number or name), the labs, topics and keywords you choose for alerts, whether you want big-story alerts, your phone's platform, and your time zone (so we stay quiet overnight). We use these only to decide which alerts to send you and when. If you turn alerts off or delete the app, we stop sending alerts and remove the token once Apple reports it's no longer valid.
Who processes your information
We use a small number of service providers to run Wavefront, and they handle information only on our behalf:
- Supabase hosts our database, accounts and audio files.
- Expo delivers push notifications to Apple's notification service.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple and push notifications.
We write story summaries and audio briefings from public news sources using AI models. That process uses only the public news content. None of your personal information is sent to it.
Links to other sites
Stories link to the original articles and posts. When you open one, you leave Wavefront, and that site's own privacy policy applies.
Keeping and deleting your information
- Delete your account anytime in the app: Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your account along with the saved stories and follows stored with it.
- Turn off alerts in the Following tab, or in iOS Settings.
- Information stored only on your phone is removed when you delete the app.
We keep account and alert information only as long as you use those features.
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections. Account data is protected so that each account can access only its own saves and follows. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what we hold.
Children
Wavefront isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information. You can delete your account in the app. For anything else, email us at the address below.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll let you know in the app.
